Most Sign Makers and Printers Will Ask You to Submit Vector Images
or they will want to charge you an additional fee to convert them for you.
There is a good reason they insist on using Vector images, "Quality".
Raster images(.jpg, .png, .bmp, .tif) are good for web pages and presentations,
but when it comes to increasing their size for printing, they don't do so well.
As you can see in the images to the right, both images look good as smaller images,
but when you magnify them for printing, one has less than desireable results.
Raster images are created by filling in tiny squares(pixels) with color to form an image.
When an image is enlarged, these tiny squares are enlarged also and the lines become 'fuzzy'.
Vector images(.ai, .eps, .cdr, .dxf) are formed by connecting points with a line or segment. When these images are expanded, they retain their shape and clarity.
A Vector image resembles a 'color by number' painting as shown in the Wireframe View.
